Some of it is stolen from the state and sold to it twice.. Horrors about corruption in wheat marketing in IraqAlsumaria News – Economy
Member of the House of Representatives, Representative Amir Al-Maamouri, reviewed today, Wednesday, a series of “atrocities” related to the wheat marketing file and the fraud and corruption operations practiced to deceive the state and benefit from the huge sums of money it pays for each ton of wheat at prices that exceed its real prices globally, as it was discovered that there are quantities of wheat that were sold to the state “twice” as one of the cases of corruption and loopholes in the marketing file.
Al-Maamouri told Sumaria News, “During the continuous visits to the wheat receiving and purchasing sites, many violations were identified in the receiving operations, and one of those examples is that one of the warehouses in Babylon received quantities of wheat, and when the committee sent by the Ministry of Trade completed its examination, it was discovered that this crop was not the current year’s crop, but rather dates back to previous years and had been stored for that entire period.”

He pointed out that “when examining the wheat and it turns out that the purity is less than 95% or that the moisture in it is less than 6%, this means that this wheat dates back to previous years, and either left the state’s warehouses and went to other warehouses to be traded, or it is smuggled, to benefit, since the price of a ton is more than one million dinars, and a thousand tons is equivalent to one billion dinars.”

He asked: “How did these suspicious types of wheat enter or are entering the warehouses at a time when there is supposed to be a government inspector present in the field and when the truck is loaded with wheat it is locked with special locks that can only be opened in warehouses or marketing silos, so how did this issue pass all the committees and this wheat enter the silos?”

In another case, Al-Maamouri explained that “when we went to the Suwaira warehouses, we found red wheat, meaning poisoned wheat that was received with other quantities of healthy wheat,” indicating that “red wheat means that it was received from the state and purchased in advance, so how did it leave the warehouses and be sold to the government twice?”

He stressed “the formation of an investigative and monitoring committee from the House of Representatives and the Parliamentary Agriculture Committee, and there are many representatives who witnessed these cases with their own eyes, indicating that unfortunately some companies affiliated with the ministry concealed these referrals in innovative ways, hiding the poisoned material, changing the locks, and other procedures.”
