Deputy - If the state controls the outlets you will not need to borrow[Baghdad-Where]
MP for the Al-Sadiqin bloc, Thamer Theban, confirmed, on Tuesday, that the size of Iraq’s losses due to corruption are estimated at billions of dollars annually, indicating that if the government controls the ports, it will not need borrowing.
Theban said, “Iraq annually loses billions of dollars due to corruption and that the ports are one of the aspects of corruption and the waste of money in them is great,” indicating that “the government has not achieved any remarkable steps to control the revenues of the border crossings so far.
” And he added, “There are outlets outside the scope of control.” The Iraqi state and these crossings have become a passage for illegal materials to cross.
He added that “the numbers that we have talk about a waste of billions of dollars and a waste of the state treasury,” stressing that “the imports of the outlets, if properly exploited, will save huge sums without the need for the government to borrow.”
