A deputy from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan bloc stated that sending salary allocations to Kurdistan Region employees is linked to the position of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi.
Sherwan Mirza, a member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, said in a press statement that “the Kurdistan Regional Government has a previous agreement with the federal government that was concluded on 8/15/2020 to send an amount of 320 billion dinars as allocations for the salaries of Kurdistan Region employees in exchange for handing over half of the proceeds from the border crossings. This agreement is for a period of 3 years.” Months”.
He added that “the federal government sent allocations of salaries to employees of the Kurdistan region for two months, and there was one month left before the agreement expires.”
Mirza added, “There are two options before Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi. The first is to keep the agreement in effect and to send the salary allocations for the employees of the Kurdistan region for the third month and before the financial deficit financing law came into effect, given that the agreement occurred before the law was approved in the House of Representatives.”
He explained, “The other option is for Al-Kazemi not to pay the allocations for the salaries of the employees of the Kurdistan region for the third month and is awaiting the entry into force of the law of financing the fiscal deficit and to implement it and not to send any other money to the Kurdistan region until a new agreement is reached.”
The House of Representatives approved at dawn yesterday, Thursday, a bill to finance the fiscal deficit without the approval and participation of the Kurdish blocs.
