Advisor to the President of the Republic Abdullah Aliawi, on Monday, the date of the meeting of the three presidencies, while the meeting will decide the fate of the dialogue between Baghdad and Erbil.
Alawi said in a press statement that “the initiative of President Fuad Masum reached an advanced stage,” noting that “is scheduled to hold the three presidencies next week a meeting in which they decide to start negotiations between Baghdad and Erbil.”
“The dialogue between the central and regional governments will begin next week and Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi will announce his readiness to start negotiations with the provincial government,” the presidential adviser said.
Al-Hayat newspaper reported on Saturday that Baghdad and Arbil will soon launch negotiations under the auspices of President Fuad Masum and Western diplomats to resolve three cases.
The newspaper quoted Iraqi sources as saying that “the dialogue between the federal government and the Kurds will begin at the beginning of the year under the auspices of the United Nations,” indicating that “President Fuad Masum will supervise the preparation of this dialogue.”
The sources added that “did not set a date for the start of dialogue between Baghdad and Erbil, but it will be after the New Year celebrations under the auspices of the United Nations Mission in Iraq [UNAMI],” indicating that “the office of infallible arranges the matter in consultation between the parties.”
