On Sunday, the tripartite Iraqi-Jordanian-Egyptian cooperation team discussed the technical and operational details of the crude oil export pipeline project (Basra-Haditha), in addition to joint projects in the oil, energy and petrochemical sectors.

The Iraqi Ministry of Oil stated in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency that the Director General of the Oil Projects Company, Ali Ward Hamoud, chaired the second meeting of the Iraqi working group concerned with following up on the projects of the Tripartite Cooperation Coordination Council, which was held via closed-circuit television.

She added that the meeting discussed the details of the (Basra-Haditha) pipeline project, including the diameter of the pipeline, its capacity, and the quantities of crude oil targeted for transport and export, as well as the branches and routes associated with it and the mechanisms for benefiting from it within the tripartite cooperation system. The inquiries and observations of the Jordanian and Egyptian sides were also discussed and technical clarifications were provided regarding them.

The meeting also addressed the joint petrochemical complex project, the requirements for providing crude oil, petroleum products and raw materials needed for the proposed industrial projects, as well as projects to establish storage facilities and refining projects, and the creation of new export outlets for Iraqi oil and its derivatives via the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea.

The participants also reviewed initiatives and projects presented by the Egyptian side, including the coking and sustainable aviation fuel projects, the technical capabilities of Egyptian companies in implementing oil and gas projects, as well as prospects for cooperation in hydrogen production technology.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Hammoud stressed the importance of continuing technical and coordination dialogues and enhancing the exchange of information and expertise among the relevant authorities in the three countries, in order to study the proposed projects and address technical inquiries, leading to the identification of implementation requirements and moving from the discussion phase to practical steps that enhance economic partnership and integration in the fields of oil, energy and industry.

The meeting was attended by the Director General of the Department of Studies, Planning and Follow-up, and representatives of the relevant departments in the Ministry of Oil, the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Industry and Minerals, as well as representatives of the competent authorities in Egypt and Jordan.
