Iraq: Barley production rises 72.3% to reach 1.12 million tons

Iraq’s barley production is projected to rise to 1.12 million tons during the 2025-2026 agricultural season, compared to 650,000 tons in the previous season, an increase of 470,000 tons, representing a growth rate of 72.31%, according to data from the US Department of Agriculture.
Data seen by Shafaq News Agency showed that the area planted with barley in Iraq reached 700,000 hectares during the current season, compared to one million hectares in the previous season, a decrease of 30%, while the average productivity per hectare increased from 1.40 tons to 1.60 tons.
According to the table, Iraqi production estimates for the current season remained stable at 1.12 million tons in the May and June estimates, with no monthly change.
