The US special envoy to Iraq, Tom Barrack, predicted on Friday that Iran would be hit by a US strike over the weekend (Saturday or Sunday).
This came in response to a question during a podcast about the possibility of an attack this week against Iran, to which Barak replied: “Absolutely.”
Barak, who is a US envoy to Iraq and Syria and Washington’s ambassador to Ankara, said, “Trump is very clear in his position and has strongly urged reaching an agreement with Iran, but Tehran is using the Strait of Hormuz as a bargaining chip.”
Earlier, US President Donald Trump asserted that Washington would keep Iran in a state of complete paralysis, as it currently is, adding, “We could finish the Iran thing very quickly; it’s a failed state.”
Trump added in a press statement: “All the oil we want goes through the Strait of Hormuz and Iran is under a naval blockade,” continuing: “We control the Strait of Hormuz and we can control all of Iran and they don’t have any money.”
He concluded that the United States “could control all of Iran’s oil,” but said the question is, “Do we want to resolve the matter or let it fade away? Iran is heading towards collapse.”
