The State Administration Coalition is scheduled to hold a meeting this Saturday evening at the Government Palace to discuss a number of important political, security and economic issues in the country.
A well-informed political source said that the most important of these issues are the issue of restricting weapons, combating corruption, as well as the 2027 budget, in addition to the issue of regional and international developments and the repercussions of the return of war in the region on Iraq.
The issue of restricting weapons to the state and disarming factions is one of the most prominent security issues on the table, after the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ali al-Zaidi, set a deadline of last June to complete this task.
Regarding the general financial budget for 2027, the Iraqi government continues to put the final touches on the draft law in preparation for sending it to the House of Representatives for approval, amidst obstacles represented by the increase in the financial deficit, estimated at about 10 trillion dinars, in addition to the ongoing disputes with Erbil over the Kurdistan Region’s share.
This meeting comes amid concerns about escalating security tensions in the region, particularly given the intensity of the exchange of statements between Washington and Tehran and their direct impact on internal stability in Iraq.
