Abdul Samad al-Zarkoushi, a member of the Coordination Framework, confirmed on Wednesday that the framework’s meeting scheduled for this evening will conclude with an agreement on an official statement identifying the candidate for the next prime minister. He ruled out any delay in the announcement or postponement of the meeting.
Speaking to Al-Maalouma, al-Zarkoushi said, “The important meeting scheduled for this evening in Baghdad for the forces of the Coordination Framework will be final in its outcomes, particularly regarding the identification of the candidate for the next prime minister.” He noted, “There are no indications of any delay or postponement, unlike what happened two days ago.”
He added, “The number of names proposed so far is four candidates, according to the available information.” He clarified, “It is not possible to predict in advance who will receive the framework’s support.”
Al-Zarkoushi indicated that “more than one scenario will be presented during the meeting to achieve majority support,” emphasizing that “the framework’s final choice will be announced in an official statement immediately after the meeting, which will be attended by all leaders without exception.”
