Shafaq News/ A deputy from the Shiite coordination framework revealed today, Sunday, the framework agreement with the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, to present a candidate for prime minister from among three names within 72 hours.
“The political breakthrough occurred after Muqtada al-Sadr contacted the head of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, and held a meeting of the leaders of the coordination framework with al-Sadr at his residence in the Najaf governorate,” explaining that “the meeting in Najaf agreed to form a committee High with the membership of figures from the current and the framework to choose a consensual figure for the position of prime minister.
She explained that “according to the Najaf meeting between Mr. Al-Sadr and the leaders of the coordination framework, the Supreme Committee will submit its final report to the current and the framework regarding the candidate for the position of prime minister within a period not exceeding 72 hours.”
She indicated that there are three prominent candidates for the position of Prime Minister, and they are “Jaafar al-Sadr, Haider al-Abadi, Qassem al-Araji,” noting that “the committee will study the biography of each candidate and who is most suitable for prime minister according to the political consensus within the Shiite house, provided that he submits The final report on the candidate for prime minister within the specified period.
Yesterday, Saturday, a delegation from the coordination framework, including “Hadi Al-Amiri, Faleh Al-Fayyad, Ahmed Al-Asadi”, accompanied by the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad Al-Halbousi and the head of the Sovereignty Alliance, Khamis Al-Khanjar, met with the leader of the Sadrist movement Muqtada Al-Sadr at the latter’s headquarters in Al-Hanana district in Najaf.
After the meeting, Al-Sadr renewed his position on forming the next federal government, while two identical political sources revealed, to Shafaq News, that the meeting led to an agreement on naming Reber Ahmed, the Kurdistan Democratic Party candidate, as president of the Republic of Iraq, in addition to defining a consensual mechanism through which a president is chosen.
