The Erbil International Building and Construction Exhibition kicked off in Erbil on Thursday, with broad and comprehensive participation including more than 450 specialized companies representing 20 Arab and foreign countries.
The opening ceremony was attended by a large official delegation, including a number of government officials in the Kurdistan Region, along with heads of chambers of commerce and representatives of diplomatic missions, who emphasized in their speeches the importance of this event in promoting economic activity, attracting investments, and developing infrastructure in the region and Iraq in general.
The participating companies cover a wide range of countries around the world, including: (Iraq, UAE, Britain, Germany, India, France, Switzerland, Qatar, Turkey, China, Iran, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Lebanon, Portugal, Greece, Japan, South Korea, and the United States of America).
Shafaq News Agency’s camera captured the impressions of participants and visitors inside the exhibition halls. Mohammed Suleiman, sales manager of one of the participating companies, said, “The Iraqi market and the Kurdistan Region market in particular are promising and targeted markets for us.”
He added, “Our participation in the exhibition today aims to showcase the latest sustainable energy solutions and to negotiate with local agents to open permanent branches here.”
For his part, Engineer Ahmed Al-Ali, representative of an Arab infrastructure company, said, “Being present at the Erbil exhibition gives us a direct opportunity to meet with major contractors and decision-makers. The scale of reconstruction in the region encourages new investments in modern building materials and smart technologies.”
For his part, Saman Qader, a visitor and civil engineering specialist, said, “The exhibition is an excellent opportunity to learn about technological developments in construction and electrical materials. What distinguished this edition was the great diversity of foreign companies and their presentation of energy-saving solutions.”
Omar Al-Hussein, a businessman and visitor from Baghdad, indicated that he was keen to come “to make understandings and launch partnerships with participating global companies,” stressing that “having 20 countries under one roof saves a lot of time and effort in searching for global suppliers.”
Over its four days, the exhibition is expected to witness dozens of bilateral (B2B) meetings and the signing of multiple investment and trade agreements and understandings between foreign companies and local investors.
