The Iraqi Republic Railways Company announced on Saturday the rehabilitation and return to service of German locomotive number 2547.
In a statement received by Al-Maalomah News Agency, the company said, “The technical staff at the Al-Shalchiya workshops, affiliated with the Iraqi Republic Railways Company, completed comprehensive maintenance work on German locomotive number 2547, as part of the company’s fleet rehabilitation plan and to improve its operational efficiency.” The statement
added that “the maintenance work was carried out by Iraqi personnel, and the locomotive is preparing to return to service after the roof installation is completed, after which it will rejoin the company’s fleet.” The company
noted that “the locomotive’s rehabilitation comes within the framework of a plan aimed at developing the company’s operations, investing in its assets, and transforming them into productive resources, thereby enhancing its ability to transport goods and passengers, and contributing to reducing operating costs and increasing revenues.”
