Ali Hussein, a member of the Coordination Framework, explained the reasons why the Framework did not request a parliamentary session to complete the cabinet of Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi.
Hussein told Al-Maalouma, “There are four political blocs vying for the deputy prime minister positions, and they have submitted their candidates for these posts while the cabinet is still incomplete.”
He added, “The most prominent problem facing the Coordination Framework was the issue of the first deputy prime minister position, in addition to finalizing the selection of the candidate for the Interior Minister position. Apart from these two matters, the remaining details are on their way to being resolved in order to complete the cabinet.”
He indicated that “the deputy prime minister positions are being contested by the Sadiqun bloc, as well as by Mohsen al-Mandalawi, one of the Sunni blocs, and the Kurdish bloc. There are also some names that have been proposed for these positions, but they have not yet received approval, especially since some blocs have vetoes.”
