The US State Department announced on Friday new measures under Operation Economic Outcast to target the Iraqi Kataib Hezbollah, the Lebanese Hezbollah, and the financial networks that fuel Iranian activities in the region.
US State Department Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigot said in a post on the X platform that his country “stands with Iraq and Lebanon in confronting Tehran’s terrorist proxies.”
These statements come as the US Treasury Department imposes new sanctions targeting a network of individuals and companies in Iraq, Lebanon, and Syria.
According to a statement from the US Treasury, the sanctions included individuals linked to Kataib Hezbollah and its leaders, namely: Hussein Ahmed Hussein, Karar Mohammed Qasim Al-Harishawi, Ali Hassan Farhan, and Mohammed Amin Fadel Ali, in addition to Abdullah Nazim Laibi Al-Amiri, and Abbas Jawad Kazem (Al-Tamimi), who are linked to the leader Salah Mahdi Hantoush Al-Makssousi.
