Said Tommy Vietor, spokesman for the National Security Council for the White House on Saturday that the information available to the U.S. administration indicate that the arsenals of chemical weapons in Syria is still under the control of the Syrian government.
However, the spokesman noted that the expansion of “the Syrian regime’s attacks against the people” and the escalation of violence in the country raises the concern in Washington about chemical weapons in Syria.
Vietor said that the United States followed with interest the situation on the Syrian chemical weapons, and conduct consultations with other countries to emphasize the common concern for the safety of those weapons and the need to ensure the required control by Damascus.
