US officials said on Thursday that the US military is considering using the “Mother of All Bombs” if fighting against Iran resumes.
CNN quoted officials as saying that the US military has drawn up plans to launch strikes that could include the use of the GBU-43/B bomb, also known as the “Mother of All Bombs,” against Iranian energy infrastructure and nuclear sites if President Donald Trump orders a resumption of hostilities.
The use of this bomb, the largest non-nuclear weapon in the American arsenal, would be a dangerous escalation in the conflict, but officials familiar with military planning discussions told CNN that questions remain about its effectiveness in achieving Washington’s strategic goals.
