Member of Parliament Iskandar Watout revealed on Tuesday that the Speaker of Parliament has issued a decision to form a specialized parliamentary committee to review the draft government program, following a wave of criticism that described the program as “a copy.”
Watout told the Information Agency that “the formed committee includes representatives from various political forces, and its task is limited to reviewing the draft and receiving proposals and objections from members of Parliament to ensure the formulation of a program that meets current requirements.”
He added that “upon the announcement of the draft government program, it faced widespread parliamentary criticism, as it was considered a duplicate of previous government programs and offered nothing new that addressed reality.” He pointed out that “the committee will work to incorporate new ideas proposed by MPs before proceeding with the voting process.”
Watout emphasized that “Parliament is keen for the government program to be realistic and applicable, and not merely a repetition of empty promises.”
