Turkmen movement to press for representation in the Prime Minister and Presidential positions

The former MP, Fawzi Akram, revealed on Wednesday that Turkmen forces are mobilizing to ensure their active participation in Iraqi decision-making, particularly in the prime minister’s and president’s offices.
Speaking to Al-Maalomah, Akram stated, “Turkmen forces, parties, and movements have initiated a campaign on various levels to engage with political parties and movements from other Iraqi factions and groups, aiming to forge a unified stance that guarantees the rights of the third largest component of Iraqi society.”
He explained that “Turkmen are an integral part of the Iraqi fabric, and it is their right to be part of state institutions and decision-making bodies, especially in the prime minister’s and president’s offices.” He further clarified that “Turkmen forces are striving to have a Turkmen figure appointed to either the deputy prime ministership or the vice presidency, considering it a legitimate national entitlement.”
Akram emphasized that “the Turkmen have been marginalized in previous governments, which is unacceptable,” stressing “the need to change this equation according to a fair and equitable entitlement that represents the Turkmen who have offered their pure blood for the security and stability of Iraq and in confronting terrorism for many years.”
