Parliament will continue, in tomorrow’s session, Monday, voting on the remaining articles in the Federal Court bill.
A member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, Almas Fadel, said in a press statement, “There are two important meetings today to resolve the Federal Court bill.”
She added, “The first meeting will be between the Legal Committee and the heads of parliamentary blocs with Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi and the Independent High Electoral Commission, and the second meeting will be between the Legal Committee and the heads of the parliamentary blocs and the Presidency of the Parliament, and the two meetings will discuss the draft law of the Federal Court.”
On the possibility of finalizing the Federal Court bill, Fadel said: The differences continue between the parliamentary blocs and we are awaiting the results of the two meetings, and if they result in any agreement, the Federal Court bill will be voted on at tomorrow’s session, Monday.
The House of Representatives recommended a number of articles contained in the draft law of the Federal Court, but there are still disagreements about 3 articles of the draft law regarding the number of court members, voting and nomination mechanisms.
