The Department of Media and Communication in the Kurdistan Regional Government announced on Friday that a negotiating delegation from the region is heading to Baghdad to discuss financial entitlements in the 2027 budget.
The department said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, “As part of the ongoing negotiations between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Federal Government, regarding the obligations, rights and financial entitlements of the Kurdistan Region in the Iraqi Federal General Budget for 2027, a high-level negotiating delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government is heading to Baghdad today.”
She added, “The delegation consists of the head of the Cabinet Office, the Cabinet Secretary, the head of the Coordination and Follow-up Department, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources, in addition to the Directors General of Budget and Accounting in the Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Kurdistan Regional Government.”
“During the visit, the region’s delegation, in coordination with Kurdistan’s representatives in the federal authorities, will hold official meetings with the Federal Ministry of Finance to continue talks and reach a common and fair understanding regarding the region’s financial and oil obligations, as well as its financial rights and entitlements in the 2027 federal general budget,” she explained.
