The spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Sabah al-Nu’man, revealed on Wednesday the fate of the groups that surrendered their weapons and severed ties with the political entities they previously represented. He confirmed that they will be fully integrated administratively and financially into the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) and will be directly under the authority of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. -Nu’man told Al-Ma’louma that “the process of disengagement or integration will take place within new formations that differ from the previous mechanism, under the management of the PMF. This will involve redistributing personnel, equipment, and military devices according to the field requirements of each formation and military unit, and in accordance with their areas of responsibility and assigned security tasks.
” He explained that there is “a strategic plan to reorganize and redistribute all brigades in accordance with the standards of the PMF,” noting that “the current procedures focus on severing the ties of these groups with their former political affiliations.”
Al-Nu’man indicated that “official authorities have received a number of requests to sever ties and integrate into the official structure of the Popular Mobilization Forces,” emphasizing that “this process is being carried out according to carefully considered and precisely defined timetables, and is not open-ended.”
Abu Mujahid al-Assaf, the security official for Kata’ib Hezbollah, had previously confirmed that the surrender of weapons or the restructuring of forces is a matter for the relevant authorities, clarifying that the groups that opted for this course of action are not affiliated with the Islamic Resistance. He pointed out that the five Islamic Resistance factions, in addition to the Karbala Brigades, will continue their missions and will not surrender a single bullet as long as there is an occupation, a violation of sovereignty, and a threat to civil peace. He also warned against being drawn into attempts to incite sectarian strife among Iraqis.
