Member of the Sovereignty Alliance, Mohammed Al-Fawaz Al-Dulaimi, announced today, Monday, signs of progress towards completing Ali Al-Zaidi’s cabinet, coinciding with the launch of initiatives to bridge differences and resolve contentious issues, away from foreign interference in internal affairs.
Al-Dulaimi told Al-Maalomah News Agency, “The political alliances have agreed to hold a session of Parliament to select the Ministers of Interior and Defense, as well as the remaining security officials, amid reports of consensus on names presented to the heads of political blocs and parties in a move aimed at finalizing the security ministries.”
He added, “The atmosphere seems more conducive to bridging differences regarding the selection of consensus figures to fill the security ministries after the Coordination Framework nominated a consensus candidate for the Interior Ministry, while the Sunni blocs submitted their nominee for the Defense Ministry. The path is now clear for holding an emergency session to complete Al-Zaidi’s cabinet.”
He explained that “the Coordination Framework will determine, within the next few days and in consultation with the other political alliances, a date for a session to fill the remaining vacant ministerial positions.”
