Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has directed the digitization of several government institutions within six months, as part of Iraq’s efforts to digitalize and eliminate administrative red tape and paperwork. Adnan al-Arabi, Deputy Head of the Government Communications Team, stated that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani directed the importance of automating the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, the Federation of Industrialists, the Registrar of Companies, and Notaries Public to facilitate the registration process for citizens and merchants through technological advancements.
He pointed out that “the Council of Ministers issued the Diwani order, chaired by us and with the membership of the Chambers of Commerce, the Registrar of Companies, the Central Bank, and the notaries public. We have held several meetings and voted to transform the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce into a digital transformation, and we have reached advanced stages.”
He added, “In the next phase, we will announce the automation of the Federation of Industries. This will move Iraq toward digital transformation, eliminating the paper world and using mobile applications and electronic platforms to eliminate red tape.”
He also explained that “the Prime Minister directed that the aforementioned institutions be completed digitally within a period of six months, indicating that “the committee has begun its work in earnest and we have negotiated with companies to present the best image, and the primary beneficiary is the Iraqi citizen and merchant.”
