Shafaq News/ The US Consul General in Erbil, Steve Bittner, stated on Sunday that the trade partnership between the United States and the Kurdistan Region continues to expand, especially in the energy sector.
In a speech delivered during the contract signing ceremony between Taurus and General Electric in Sulaymaniyah, the Consul stated that 90% of the electricity in the Kurdistan Region is currently generated by General Electric turbines.
Bitner emphasized that “electricity is a fundamental component of any economy’s development,” noting that “the Kurdistan Region and the United States have a long-standing relationship, and today’s event is a testament to this cooperation.”
He added that the step taken today would contribute to expanding the energy sector in the Kurdistan Region.
The US Consul continued, saying, “American companies are looking for investment opportunities in the Kurdistan Region, and we want to expand our partnership.”
