On Thursday, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani, along with a number of political leaders and candidates for ministerial portfolios, arrived at the parliament building, ahead of the vote on the government of Prime Minister-designate Ali al-Zaidi.

Shafaq News Agency’s correspondent in Parliament said that the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, arrived this evening at the Parliament building, and was received by the Speaker of Parliament, Hebat al-Halbousi.

Our correspondent noted the arrival at parliament of President Nizar Amidi, Supreme Judicial Council President Faiq Zaidan, (outgoing) Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, and Patriotic Union of Kurdistan President Bafel Talabani.

Our correspondent also noted the arrival of the head of the Wisdom Movement, Ammar al-Hakim, the head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, the head of the Sumerians Movement, Ahmed al-Asadi, the Secretary-General of the Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq Movement, Qais al-Khazali, and the head of the Progress Party, Mohammed al-Halbousi, as well as the arrival of the candidates for ministerial portfolios to the parliament building.

The Iraqi parliament is scheduled to vote on Thursday on the ministerial program and the government of al-Zidi, while sources close to him said that he has not yet decided on some portfolios and is still reviewing the names of candidates submitted by the political blocs.

The office of the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Adnan Faihan, had announced earlier on Thursday that a crucial meeting would be held in his office with the heads of the blocs prior to the start of the session to vote on granting confidence to the new government.
