The Ministry of Peshmerga in the Kurdistan Region denied on Sunday the validity of reports that spoke of the suspension of American aid to its forces, stressing that the support is still continuing in accordance with the joint memorandum of understanding signed with the US Department of Defense.
The ministry said in a statement to Shafaq News Agency that the rumors circulating in recent days are “baseless,” explaining that the support comes within the framework of a program aimed at making the reform process a success and unifying the Peshmerga forces.
She added that only aid related to the war against ISIS has stopped, as a result of the decline and retreat of the organization’s movements.
The ministry confirmed that US financial and logistical assistance is managed according to a specific timetable, noting that the deadline for the current understandings is September 2026.
She explained that talks are expected to begin in the coming period to sign a new memorandum of understanding between the two sides.
