The Parliamentary Finance Committee Calls For The Establishment Of A Sovereign Fund For The State To Address Emergency SituationsEarth News/ Today, Tuesday, the Parliamentary Finance Committee called for the establishment of a sovereign fund for the state to address emergency situations.

The media department of the council said in a statement received by Earth News, “The Finance Committee headed by Hassan Karim Al-Kaabi and the presence of its members hosted today, Tuesday, Minister of Finance Ali Allawi, Minister of Commerce Alaa Al-Jubouri, Minister of State for Parliament Affairs Hiam Nemat, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, Director General of the Budget Department, Taif Sami, and Director The Accounts General in the Ministry, Sahar Hadi, to discuss the merits of the Emergency Support Law, Food Security and Development, and the necessary amendments to it.

He added, “The committee’s deputies discussed the articles of the draft law to take their legal observations, the reasons that led to sending it to the council, how to distribute the necessary allocations for projects, and emphasizing the deletion of the article related to borrowing in light of the financial abundance.”

Al-Kaabi and members of the committee demanded, according to the statement, “to send the files related to the dues of the ration card items and food security in official letters to the Finance Committee in the Council.”

The statement continued, “The interventions of the members of the Finance Committee focused on revealing the final accounts, expenditure and revenue ratios, in addition to the importance of maximizing non-oil revenues, obligations and rights of the Kurdistan Region, as well as knowing the reasons for internal and external borrowing, how to disburse funds and pay debts, fees and taxes.

The members stressed the need to “establish a sovereign fund for the state to address emergency situations.”
