The Parliament Presidency decided today, Monday, to set Saturday, April 11, as the date for holding the session to elect the President of the Republic. The Parliament Presidency stated in a statement that “the Presidency of the House of Representatives held an expanded meeting with the heads of the parliamentary blocs to discuss a number of important files related to the work of the Council, most notably the discussion of a number of important laws that will be included on the agendas of the Council sessions during the coming period, as well as completing the voting on the standing committees of the Council.”
She explained that “the meeting discussed extensively the issue of electing the President of the Republic, and the importance of proceeding with this constitutional entitlement and ending the political deadlock in light of the security and economic conditions that the country is suffering from.” She continued, “The Presidency of the House of Representatives decided to set Saturday, April 11, as the date for holding the session to elect the President of the Republic,” calling on “the leaders of the political blocs to bear their responsibilities in completing the constitutional entitlements and forming a government capable of facing the challenges.”
