On Sunday, demonstrators continued to flock to Tahrir Square in central Baghdad to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the October protests, with the number of participants exceeding hundreds amid escalating demands and tight security measures.

The protesters gathered in Tahrir Square carrying Iraqi flags and chanting several slogans, including “The people want to overthrow the regime” and “Iran out, out, Tishreen will remain free,” while the number of participants continues to increase.

Protester Jassim Hamid told Shafaq News Agency, “Our meeting today, on the seventh anniversary of the October Revolution, is to renew our pledge to the martyrs and to continue the demonstrations until we achieve a free homeland, free from foreign interference.”

For his part, protester Khaled Ali Hassan told Shafaq News Agency that “the October Revolution represents an immortal record in the struggle of the Iraqi people to achieve their legitimate goals,” explaining that it is “a revolution against corruption, quotas, the absence of services and job opportunities.”

Riot police imposed a tight security cordon around the demonstration, confining the participants to the vicinity of Al-Umma Park behind the Liberation Monument, while simultaneously deploying heavily in the Bab Sharqi area to secure traffic flow.
