Said the newspaper “New York Times” today that “many American officials would welcome the defeat of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki in the elections.
She explained that the “ratings CIA believes that the re-election of al-Maliki may increase sectarian tensions and even raise the likelihood of civil war, citing his failure to compromise with the Iraqi factions other – Sunni or Kurds – and the failures of the military has against Islamic extremists.
