The Kurdistan Regional Government condemned on Saturday the attack targeting the United Arab Emirates Consulate General in Erbil, considering it a violation of international law and the sovereignty of the region and Iraq.
The government said in a statement, received by Shafaq News Agency, that it “strongly condemns the attack on the Consulate General of the United Arab Emirates in Erbil, and all attacks on the territory and institutions of the Kurdistan Region, its consulates and diplomatic missions.”
The statement added that “this terrorist attack on the Kurdistan Region is a flagrant violation of international law and the sovereignty of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.”
The regional government called on the federal government to “assume its legal responsibility and put an end to the illegitimate forces and militias.”
The statement indicated that the attack did not result in any deaths, but caused what it described as “serious” damage to the Kurdistan Region and Iraq in general.
