The Iraqi Council of Ministers discusses the developments of the economic crisis and takes four decisionsShafaq News/ On Tuesday, the Iraqi Council of Ministers discussed, during its regular session, the global economic crisis and took four new decisions.

In a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi’s office said that “the latter reviewed the general situation in the country, developments in the security situation, the efforts of the security services in pursuing remnants of terrorism and crime gangs, and their plans to protect electric power towers from sabotage acts, and follow up on manipulators with the people’s power.” Iraqi”.

Al-Kazemi touched on “the developments of the global economic crisis, its repercussions on Iraq, and the follow-up to the implementation of the measures taken by the government to alleviate the crisis,

He stressed the need for all ministries to abide by the decisions of the Council of Ministers, and to stay away from personal judgments in dealing with decisions that affect the lives of citizens, which were previously taken by the Council of Ministers to alleviate the crisis of high prices.

The session witnessed the presentation of a detailed report on the health procedures for controlling the Corona pandemic, the decrease in the number of injuries, the efforts of the Ministry of Health in following up on the developments of the pandemic, and its procedures in securing the required treatments and vaccines.

After the Council of Ministers discussed the topics on the agenda, it issued the following decisions: First / Approval of the following:

1- Suspension of the import license for foodstuffs, consumables, and medicines covered by import, and contentment with examination and quality control procedures, health control procedures, and agricultural and veterinary quarries at border crossings until June 8, 2022.

2- The Ministry of Finance / the General Customs Authority, in coordination between it and the Ministry of Agriculture, shall unify the lists covered by import, based on paragraph (2/a-b) of Cabinet Resolution (72 of 2022).

3- Forming a committee headed by the Prime Minister’s Adviser for Economic Affairs, with the membership of representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, the National Security Apparatus, and the Ministries of Finance and Trade, to study the procedures for importing eggs and chickens in a way that guarantees fair and stable prices.

Second / 1- Approval of excluding the remaining number of (47) non-received firefighting vehicles with their accessories and spare tools, supplied from the French company (Jimex) to the Middle Refineries Company, whose chassis numbers are fixed in the attached table linking the Ministry of Oil letter numbered (A) /T/1546) dated January 17, 2022, from Cabinet Resolution (215 of 2009) as amended and Cabinet Resolution (432) of 2012.

2- The Ministry of Finance/General Customs Authority has taken the appropriate measures to implement what was mentioned in the aforementioned paragraph (1), and Al Wasat Refineries Company is duly responsible for the integrity of the contractual procedures and technical specifications.

Third / authorizing the head of the Fund for the Reconstruction of Areas Affected by Terrorist Operations the authority to negotiate and sign a joint cooperation protocol between the Republic of Iraq / the Fund for the Reconstruction of Areas Affected by Terrorist Operations and the Republic of Turkey in the field of environmental management, taking into consideration the recommendation of the Legal Department of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers Installed in its memorandum numbered (M.D./Q./2/4/11/212/95 L.Q.) dated April 3, 2022.

Fourth / agree to the following:

1- To authorize the Director General of the General Tax Authority at the Ministry of Finance, the power to negotiate and initialize a draft agreement for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of tax evasion imposed on income and capital, between the government of the Republic of Iraq and the governments of (the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Democratic Republic of Sri Lanka, and the Slovak Republic, the State of Qatar, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Republic of Romania), based on the provisions of Article (80/sixth) of the Constitution.

2- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs prepares the necessary authorization documents on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Iraq to the Director General of the General Tax Authority, according to the approved contexts, and submits them to the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers to obtain the signature of the Prime Minister.
