The Iranian consul in Najaf reveals to Shafaq News the content of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khameneis message to IraqShafaq News – Najaf
The Iranian Consul General in Najaf, Saeed Seyedin, confirmed on Wednesday that Iraq occupies a special place in Iran’s foreign strategy, noting that the messages exchanged between Tehran and Iraqi leaders reflect the continuation of a policy based on supporting a “strong and independent Iraq.”

Sayedin told Shafaq News Agency in an exclusive statement that the Iranian leadership’s view of Iraq “was and still is special,” noting that the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei gave Iraq exceptional attention in Tehran’s regional approach.

He added that the new Iranian leadership, represented by Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, is pursuing the same strategy towards Iraq, indicating that his recent messages and positions, according to him, carried expressions of thanks and appreciation to the Iraqis for their support and solidarity during the recent war.

He indicated that Iranian policy in the next phase will remain, as he put it, based on supporting an “independent and strong” Iraq, reiterating his country’s thanks to the Iraqi people in all their components for their stances during the last month.

This comes after a well-informed political source revealed on Sunday, March 29, that the new Iranian Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, had sent messages to Iraqi leaders, including thanks to the Iraqi people for their support of Iran during the current war.

According to the source, one of the messages was delivered to the head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, through a delegation that included Humam Hamoudi, Abu Fadak al-Muhammadawi, and the Iranian ambassador in Baghdad. The source indicated that the message also included support for the Coordination Framework’s position regarding al-Maliki’s nomination for the premiership, and that similar messages would be sent to other leaders and to Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani.
