The framework is rearranging its cards... A five-party alliance led by Maliki and Amiri includes 75 MPsInformation/Baghdad…
An informed political source revealed on Friday that a new political alliance, dubbed the “Alliance of the Strong,” is nearing official announcement. The alliance comprises approximately 75 members of parliament from prominent political forces within the Coordination Framework, in a move aimed at containing recent defections and preventing what the source described as the “theft of political entitlements.”
The source told Al-Maalouma that “the new alliance includes Nouri al-Maliki, head of the State of Law Coalition; Hadi al-Amiri, head of the Fatah Alliance; Faleh al-Fayyad, head of the Ata’a Movement; Humam Hamoudi, head of the Supreme Islamic Council; and Ahmed al-Asadi, head of the Sanad Bloc.”
The source added that “this move comes in the wake of the tensions that arose during the session to nominate the prime minister, and the accompanying defections within the Reconstruction and Development Alliance. This prompted the five forces to form a unified political front to halt the fragmentation and ensure the cohesion of the Coordination Framework.”
The source indicated that “the new alliance seeks to impose a more cohesive political equation in the coming phase, secure a unified position in government formation negotiations, and prevent any attempts to weaken the forces within the framework.”
