Al-Fateh Alliance MP Ahmed Al-Kinani considered, on Tuesday, the US embassy’s announcement of warning the people of Baghdad against carrying out a military maneuver with live ammunition as a disregard and a flagrant violation of national sovereignty.
Al-Kinani said in a press statement, that “the US embassy’s warning to the people of the capital about its conducting a military maneuver with ammunition is a flagrant violation of national sovereignty,” wondering, “Is the embassy a military barracks or a diplomatic body?” .
“The declaration represents a clear disregard for the government, and it is shameful and disgraceful for the government to stand by and watch about this announcement,” he added.
Al-Kinani called on the government to “take swift action and not allow that maneuver to take place if a government claims to be a government that protects the interests of its people and does not allow the sovereignty of Iraq to be violated.”
Today, Tuesday, the US embassy issued a warning to residents of the capital, Baghdad, that it would undertake live ammunition maneuvers and conduct a series of tests that include emergency equipment and procedures.
