On Sunday, the Federal Supreme Court held a hearing on the case against Hoshyar Zebari’s candidacy for the presidency.
A press source said: “The Federal Court held a hearing in the case against the nomination of Hoshyar Zebari for the presidency of the Republic.”
The constitution requires the presence of two-thirds of the 329 members of Parliament in the session in order to achieve a quorum for electing the President of the Republic. On the other hand, Parliament has the right to hold its other sessions by achieving a simple majority (half members + 1), which was also not achieved in the session that was scheduled for Parliament last Monday.
