The Energy Council supports dialogue with Chevron to develop four exploration blocks in southern IraqShafaq News/ The Ministerial Energy Council announced, on Tuesday, its support for dialogue with the American “Chevron” company to develop four exploration blocks in Dhi Qar Governorate, southern Iraq.

The council said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, that it “agreed, during its regular session, which was held today, to support the efforts of the National Oil Company to open a discussion and dialogue with the American company Chevron regarding the implementation of the Nasiriyah province project to produce oil and gas in four exploration blocks in Dhi Qar Governorate,” stressing On “its importance in promoting and sustaining national production.”

He added that “these projects would contribute and support the national economy and sustainable development projects.”

On the other hand, the Council recommended “supporting joint efforts to proceed with the implementation of the Nibras petrochemical project, due to the positive economic and developmental effects and the expected financial returns, provided that the joint management committee selects a global consultant to study and evaluate the price of nutrient gas, for the proposal submitted by the partners according to the economic model.” .

The council indicated that it “also agreed to expand the Al-Diwaniyah refinery, in addition to approving the Ministry of Oil to supply the departments of the Basra Water Project (Al-Bida’ Canal) and the Shatt Al-Arab Irrigation Project with their fuel needs in support of the efforts of the Ministry of Water Resources and supporting authorities.”

The Council noted that it “also agreed that the Ministry of Industry and Minerals would complete its procedures regarding the rehabilitation and operation of the General Phosphate Company’s laboratories in accordance with the Investment Law and the Mineral Investment Law, due to the importance of this in supporting the industrial, agricultural and national economy sectors.”
