The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) is still awaiting the Federal Court’s decision on the appeal it and other political forces filed regarding the voting mechanism for some ministerial candidates in Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi’s government, KDP member Wafaa Mohammed confirmed on Monday. Mohammed told Al-Maalomah news agency, “The KDP has not yet decided on replacing its nominee for the Ministry of Construction and Housing, pending the Federal Court’s ruling on the appeals.”
He added, “Several names are being considered as potential replacements should the court reject the appeal, including Ali Rashid, Omid Sabah, and Nawzad Hadi.”
He noted that “the Speaker of Parliament did not act professionally during the session to grant confidence to Ali al-Zaidi’s government,” adding that “the session’s management was marred by several issues that prompted some political forces to appeal to the Federal Court.”
He affirmed that the party’s final position on the nominee and the ministerial portfolios will be determined after the court issues its ruling on the appeals.
