The Iraqi parliament has set next Monday as the date for its first session of the second legislative term, with the Information Technology Crimes Law topping the agenda.
According to a document received by Shafaq News Agency, the session’s agenda includes the first reading of four draft laws: the draft law on information technology crimes, the draft law amending the law on the care of minors, the draft law amending the law on advocacy, and the draft law on financing the strengthening of Iraqi air defense systems.
For his part, the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Adnan Faihan, confirmed that the parliamentary agenda will be completely different from previous sessions and that the agenda of its sessions will include listening sessions and discussions on the performance of ministries, regulatory bodies and institutions, and their development programs and plans.
The parliament’s leadership had previously revealed that there was parliamentary activity to proceed with the legislation of a number of important and delayed laws, most notably the oil and gas law, the Popular Mobilization Forces law, and the federal civil service law.
These laws are among the most prominent legislative files postponed during recent parliamentary sessions, especially the oil and gas law, which is still subject to disputes regarding the management of natural resources and the distribution of revenues between the federal government, the Kurdistan Region, and the oil-producing governorates.
