On Friday, Adi Abdel Hadi, a member of the Coordination Framework, revealed that the Framework’s forces will hold an important meeting at the beginning of next week to determine the date of the session to elect the President of the Republic.
Abdul-Hadi told Al-Maalomah that “the forces of the Coordination Framework and their allies from other political forces agree that next week must be decisive in determining the identity of the candidate for the presidency.”
He added that “at the beginning of the week an important meeting will be held to present opinions and reach a consensus on setting a date for the election of the President of the Republic by the House of Representatives, through the principle of political consensus.”
He noted that “up to this point, there are no Kurdish-Kurdish understandings regarding a consensus candidate. Therefore, all opinions are leaning towards putting forward all names and leaving the choice to the members of parliament to select whomever they deem competent for this sovereign position.”
