An Iraqi source reported on Saturday that the closure of Iraqi airspace has been extended until 12:00 noon tomorrow, with the situation to be assessed hourly based on developments.
Iraqi authorities had previously announced the closure of Iraqi airspace to all incoming, outgoing, and transiting aircraft for two hours, as a “temporary and precautionary” measure, while emphasizing that the situation would be reassessed and the decision reviewed according to developments.
The region is witnessing a notable military escalation, following an attack launched by Israel and the United States on Iran, which in turn responded by bombing Israel and a number of cities in the region.
According to initial data, the attacks included cities in Manama, Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE, amid fears of a wider regional confrontation.
