On Tuesday, Farouk Al-Yasiri, a member of parliament representing Dhi Qar, reported that the contract file between the governorate’s health department and the Qatari company “Apex Health” has been referred to the Federal Integrity Commission and the Ministry of Health to take the necessary legal measures against those proven to be involved or negligent.

Al-Yasiri said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency that “the file relates to a contract worth $81 million for a period of two years,” noting that “the size of the violations and suspicions contained in it makes it one of the biggest corruption files in Dhi Qar Governorate, and no less dangerous than the theft of the century file.”

He explained that the referral was based on the supervisory powers of the House of Representatives according to Article (61/Seventh/A) of the Iraqi Constitution, and Article (15) of the Law of the House of Representatives and its formations No. (13) of 2018 amended.

He added that “the attached report includes a number of legal violations related to the contract conclusion mechanism, in addition to indicators of waste of public funds, job negligence and harm to the public interest,” calling on the competent authorities to “open a comprehensive investigation and hold all officials involved or negligent accountable.”

Al-Yassiri indicated that the file was officially handed over to the Federal Integrity Commission and the Ministry of Health, expressing his belief that “the procedure may raise problems as a result of this disclosure.”
