On Thursday, Muhammad al-Fahdawi, a leader in the Azm Alliance, confirmed that the Sunni National Council had declared its readiness to attend the session to vote on the new government formation with all its members present, without any Sunni political entity objecting to Ali al-Zidi assuming the premiership.
Al-Fahdawi told Al-Maalouma News Agency that “the Sunni National Council confirmed its readiness to go to the parliament building to attend the session to vote on Ali al-Zidi’s government without any objection to al-Zidi assuming the presidency of the new government.”
He added that “the Sunni National Council held a meeting yesterday with all its members, during which it presented a comprehensive paper that included their vision and proposals in order to support a government program that meets the aspirations of the Iraqi people, in a step that would hasten the birth of a new government that would take upon itself the task of correcting the wrong paths produced by the government of Mohammed Shia al-Sudani.”
He confirmed that “those present asked the head of the Progress Alliance not to interfere in the vote on al-Zaydi’s government, given that the council is not concerned with this matter and the position is allocated to the Coordination Framework.”
