Sudanese bloc: Combating corruption must include everyone without exception

The Reconstruction and Development parliamentary bloc, led by former Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, affirmed on Monday its full support for the measures taken by the Iraqi government and the Supreme Judicial Council in pursuing corruption cases, stressing the need for investigations to include all cases “without selectivity.”
Several members of the bloc said during a press conference attended by Shafaq News Agency that arresting and holding accountable those officials involved in corruption cases, whether in the executive or legislative branches, represents an important step, expressing their confidence in the Iraqi judiciary and its decisions, and calling for the recent statement of the House of Representatives regarding combating corruption to be translated into practical measures.
She added that the current phase enjoys broad political and popular support, which creates the conditions for opening important corruption files and reforming state institutions, stressing that the time is right to take more serious steps in this matter.
On the political front, the bloc announced its support for the Prime Minister’s choices in completing the cabinet, stressing that completing the government formation contributes to strengthening executive performance and continuing the implementation of the government program.
The Reconstruction and Development bloc also denied the existence of disagreements within its ranks, stressing that it remains cohesive, and warning of a “media war” aimed at distorting the political scene, calling on the media to be accurate and professional in reporting the news.
