Salah Boushi, a member of the State of Law Coalition, confirmed on Monday that the coalition had submitted a group of candidates to assume the portfolios of Interior and Higher Education, while leaving Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi free to choose whomever he deemed suitable to complete the cabinet.
Bushi told Al-Maalomah that “the State of Law Coalition left the right of choice to Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi to choose whomever he sees fit for the portfolios of Interior and Higher Education, after the coalition submitted its candidates for the two ministerial portfolios.”
He added that “the coalition presented a group of candidates and sent the names to the Prime Minister to choose two of them,” explaining that “the State of Law does not focus on the name, but rather on the qualifications that each candidate possesses, in a way that meets the government program according to what was agreed upon within the coordination framework.”
He explained that “the most important thing for the rule of law at this stage is to help the Prime Minister complete the remaining ministerial portfolios, and not to think about obstructing or placing obstacles in the way of completing the cabinet, especially since the priority now lies in ensuring the government’s success and enabling it to fulfill its responsibilities.”
