On Tuesday, Ali al-Zirjawi, a member of parliament from the State of Law Coalition, confirmed that the Council of Representatives intends to vote on the vacant ministerial portfolios immediately after the Eid holiday. He indicated that parliament is committed to supporting Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi’s government and monitoring the implementation of its service program.
Al-Zirjawi told the Information Agency, “The Council of Representatives will witness intensive activity after the Eid holiday to finalize the vote on the remaining ministries in al-Zaidi’s cabinet.” He explained that “among the most important of these vacant portfolios are Defense, Interior, and Planning.”
He added, “There is a strong parliamentary desire to complete the government structure to ensure the full commencement of executive work.” He also noted that “parliament will exercise its oversight role firmly to monitor and scrutinize the government program’s provisions and the extent to which ministries adhere to its implementation.”
