Salah Boushi, a member of the State of Law Coalition, denied on Thursday any official move or decision to withdraw the coalition’s leader, Nouri al-Maliki, in favor of current Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani.
Boushi told the Information Agency, “Up to this moment, there is no official position announced or decision within the State of Law Coalition confirming al-Maliki’s withdrawal in favor of al-Sudani.” He added, “What is being circulated in the media is nothing more than speculation far removed from the official reality.”
He explained that “postponing the meeting until Friday does not constitute a disruption of the political process or an indication of a deadlock.” He pointed out that “this postponement represents a real opportunity to give political dialogues more time to mature and reach common visions.”
He added, “The current stage requires precision in decision-making, and the ongoing dialogues aim to strengthen the unity of position within the Shia political bloc and the rest of the political forces to ensure the stability of the next phase.”
The political arena is witnessing intense activity coinciding with preparations for the upcoming parliamentary sessions and the resolution of issues related to the political blocs’ entitlements.
