The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Sabah al-Nu’man, confirmed on Thursday the acceleration of the withdrawal of the US-led international coalition forces against ISIS from Iraq, reiterating the foreign forces’ commitment to the deadline for ending their mission in the country.

Al-Nu’man said during the weekly security briefing, which was attended by a correspondent from Shafaq News Agency, that “September 30 is the deadline for the end of the mission of the international coalition and the rest of the foreign forces under its umbrella in Iraq,” indicating that “there is a daily acceleration in the withdrawal of those forces, and the office of the Commander-in-Chief has directed that all facilities be provided by issuing the necessary permits and authorizations to secure and expedite their movement.”

Al-Nu’man added that “the international coalition that was formed in 2014 played a major role in supporting the Iraqi security forces,” noting that “ISIS has ended militarily in Iraq, and despite the existence of remnants and vestiges of the organization, the security forces are at the highest levels of readiness and preparedness to confront and destroy them.”
