The head of the Christian parliamentary bloc “Suyana”, Kaldo Ramzi Oghna, affirmed on Monday that his bloc is holding fast to its entitlement to assume the Ministry of Migration and Displacement, stressing its rejection of any attempt to bypass it or include it in other political equations.

During a press conference held at the parliament building, accompanied by members of the bloc and attended by a correspondent from Shafaq News Agency, Oghna said, “The entitlement of the Soyana Christian parliamentary bloc to the Ministry of Migration and Displacement is based on what was agreed upon during our last meeting with the Prime Minister, in the presence of a number of advisors.”

He added: “While there are attempts to disrupt this entitlement, our position is clear and firm. We will not be drawn into any side arguments, and we will not give up our right or accept any attempt to circumvent our political entitlement.”

“Suyana” is an independent parliamentary bloc in the Iraqi House of Representatives, established in late December 2025 to represent the Christian component. It includes Kaldo Ramzi Oghna as head of the bloc for the Erbil constituency, Sami Oshana Korkis for the Dohuk constituency, and Imad Youkhna Yaqo as representative of the Christians in Kirkuk.

Since the Al-Zaidi government gained confidence in May 2026, voting on nine ministerial portfolios (including Migration and Displacement, Defense, Interior, and Culture) has been postponed due to ongoing political disputes and complications related to the distribution of electoral quotas among the blocs.
