An informed source reported on Friday (June 19, 2026) that a security force closed the financial department of the Central Electricity Distribution Company, after suspicions arose of corruption and major financial manipulation.
The source said that “the security force raided the financial department of the Central Electricity Distribution Company,” noting that “this move came after suspicions of corruption files and major financial manipulation.”
He added that “the security force carried out an operation to enter the company headquarters and proceeded to completely close the financial department, based on preliminary information regarding suspicions of corruption in some financial transactions.”
He added that “the measures came after initial follow-up and investigations, without disclosing additional details regarding the extent of the violations or the number of people involved in the investigation, while no official statement has yet been issued by the concerned authorities to clarify the circumstances of the incident.”
It is reported that a security force arrested a director general in the Ministry of Electricity in the Mansour district, west of the capital Baghdad, earlier today.
A security source stated that “the force raided a private office in a house in the Dawoodi area of Mansour district belonging to the director of the Central Electricity Distribution Company (Alaa Samir).”
He explained that “the arrest of (Samir) was carried out in connection with the arrest of an employee named (Mahmoud) at the company at night.”
